With humble roots, Davvi Arctic has become one of the leading DMC and accommodation providers in ‘True Lapland.’
The company was established in Karesuvanto as the antidote to mass-market commercialism that has begun to dominate Lapland tourism, as it continues to do today in areas such as Rovaniemi, Saariselka and Levi. With the intention of bringing visitors to Lapland a more authentic, wilderness Arctic experience, we began trading in the area of Enontekio, commonly referred to as ‘True Lapland.’
Not only are we positioned at the heart of ‘True Lapland’, we are located on the official Northern Lights Route (designated by the governments of Finland, Sweden and Norway as one of the best areas in the world to sight the Aurora Borealis). Surrounded by reindeer reserves and sporadic Sami populations, the Lapland experience delivered is as authentic and as genuine as can be achieved – a far cry from the shopping malls and fast-food restaurants of Rovaniemi. We can boast a frozen river on our doorstep on which to snowmobile, countless frozen lakes on which to snowshoe, and the best Santa’s cabin in Lapland!
We also receive many guests during the summer months, particularly at the end of summer/beginning of autumn, during the period known as ‘Ruska’ – a time when the intense autumnal colours rival that of the New England ‘Fall.’
We are continually improving our facilities, guest experience and ways of working, to position ourselves as the premier inbound operator and accommodation provider in the region, and would love to welcome you for a comfortable stay.
The Davvi Arctic Star (previously the 'Arctic Star', 'Hotelli Karesuando', and 'Grapes Hotell') is the oldest hotel in the Kiruna region. No wonder, then, that a few famous faces have stayed under its roof, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama who stayed enroute to visiting the Sami Parliament in Kautokeino.
